Our Story
In the intertwining of two remarkable cultures, the story of CHABOCEAU emerges as a celebration of refinement — a fusion of French savoir-faire and English elegance.
A Heritage of Two Worlds
Deeply rooted in a rich and eclectic lineage, the brand draws from the finest of two worlds: the artisanal excellence of France and the sophisticated art of living inherited from British tradition. This dual heritage is not just part of CHABOCEAU's identity — it defines the very essence of every piece we create.
The story begins with Mary Chaboceau, born in London on December 13, 1806, daughter of Joseph Chaboceau de la Sauzaie, a renowned marchand d'art, and Mary Skegg, a woman of English distinction. Their marriage at Westminster Abbey was more than symbolic; it marked the union of two great legacies.
Centuries of Legacy
Yet the Chaboceau name stretches further back, to 16th-century Parthenay, France, where Jean Chaboceau, Sieur de la Babinotière, and his son Louis Chaboceau, lawyer to King Henry IV, began building a legacy of prestige and purpose.
Over generations, the family gave rise to physicians, consuls, and landowners — including stewards of the historic Château de la Touche-Ory — each one adding new layers of meaning to the name they carried.
Our Creations
Benedita Chaboceau
Today, this legacy lives on through Benedita Chaboceau, who breathes new life into the family's heritage, preserving its essence while reimagining it for a contemporary world.
Under her creative direction, CHABOCEAU offers more than decorative pieces — it offers a living narrative. Whether it's a delicately embroidered napkin or a limited-edition centrepiece, every piece embodies the harmony of two cultures woven together with grace.
CHABOCEAU is not simply a brand — it is a tribute to heritage. A story still being written. A meeting place of past and present, where elegance is timeless and every detail matters.
