The first collection of CHABOCEAU is a tribute to Madre Aguiar, daughter of Carlos Filipe Chaboceau de Aguiar and Guilhermina Sampaio, matriarch of the Chaboceau family, who is 111 years old.
Her childhood was spent in Braga, where she lived with her paternal grandmother, Rosália, and Aunt Perpétua, for whom she harboured a deep affection. To this day she remembers the days spent with the “Doceiras”, family friends and founders of the emblematic Doçaria de São Vicente.
At the age of five she moved to Lisbon, where she developed her academic and artistic formation. At the Conservatory, she stood out by completing the Higher Piano Course with top marks, at the age of 17. Ten years later she joined the Congregation of the Sisters of Saint Dorothea, founded by Paula Frassinetti, where she dedicated herself to teaching piano until the age of 106. Generations of pupils from the Nossa Senhora da Paz School in Porto passed through her hands.
The piano thus became an extension of Madre Aguiar’s soul. Through her keys, she not only gives voice to her feelings but also shares that contagious passion. Each note played is a story told, a bond created between the past and the future, where music becomes a magical link between hearts.
Madre Aguiar is the beating heart of every family gathering, where joy and sociability mingle naturally. She is enchanted by the refinement of the tables, with the petit fours harmoniously arranged. As the aroma of black tea with milk wafts through the air, narratives intertwine, creating memories that will endure through time. But beyond family warmth, she is notable for a lively social life, being a constant presence at concerts and receptions in the city of Porto.
Thus, the first collection of the CHABOCEAU brand, which presents a delicate Easter bunny napkin playing the piano, aims to celebrate the life and legacy of the extraordinary Madre Aguiar.
